Children and Young People’s Dynamic Services

Dynamic has a range of services that are available for children and young people, all require a referral/application and some services do have a waiting list for places. Although we cannot give you an exact time frame for when spaces will become available, the team are always happy to speak with you about your child’s support needs.

Dynamic Friends
Overview: A group for young people/young adults to take part in an activity session with their peers in a supportive environment Monday or Thursday 10:00am – 12:00 noon.

Support can be provided, or own support is welcomed. There is a variable session charge for this service dependent on support needs. Booking is required.
Eligibility Criteria: Young People:

  • Aged 16 – 25 years.
  • Have a diagnosed disability or where there is professional concern about the individual: a physical/social/emotional/health/behavioural issue that is having a detrimental impact on their development and a formal disability diagnosis is being sought.
 

Dynamic Groups
Overview: Term time after-school and Saturday activity groups and holiday schemes for children and young people that provide fun and stimulating opportunities to help develop their personal, social, communication, emotional and independent-life-skills whilst developing appropriate peer-support networks.

There is a sessional charge towards activity costs, hot snack and refreshments.
Eligibility Criteria: Children/Young People:

  • Aged 8 – 19 years
  • Live in Wrexham County Borough
  • Have a diagnosed disability or where there is professional concern about the individual: a physical/social/emotional/health/behavioural issue that is having a detrimental impact on their development and a formal disability diagnosis is being sought.
 

Dynamic Signing Sensations
Overview: A signing choir for young people to learn sign language in fun weekly sessions and perform at special events. There is a commitment expectation for this group for practice sessions.

There is no individual support provided for choir members and all members are expected to be able to practice/perform independently or with support from their own carer.

There is a sessional charge to cover associated costs.

Eligibility Criteria: Children/Young People:

  • Aged 12 – 25 years
  • Have a diagnosed disability/disorder, or where there is professional concern about the individual: a physical/social/emotional/health/behavioural issue that is having a detrimental impact on their development and a formal disability diagnosis is being sought.
  • Be able to attend independently or with support from their own carer.
 

Dynamic Voice
Overview: A group of children/young people who come together to have their say and a voice on matters that affect them.

The sessions include debates, responding to consultations, developing decision making skills. The group hope to represent the voice of children/young people with disabilities locally, regionally and nationally.
Eligibility Criteria: Children/Young People:

  • Aged 8 – 25 years
  • Live in Wrexham County Borough.
  • Have a diagnosed disability/disorder, or where there is professional concern about the individual: a physical/social/emotional/health/behavioural issue that is having a detrimental impact on their development and a formal disability diagnosis is being sought.
  • Be able to attend independently or with support from their own carer.
 

Dynamically Active
Overview: A time-limited activity support service that helps empower children/young people to be able to access a chosen activity or club of their choice in their local community as independently as possible.

Some children/young people may never be able to attend independently but this will not be a barrier, the goal is always to look for sustainable options for the child/young person after the agreed Dynamic support plan has finished.

There could be a variable session charge for this service dependent on the activity the individual has chosen.
Eligibility Criteria: Children/Young People:

  • Aged 8 – 25 years
  • Live in Wrexham County Borough.
  • Have a diagnosed disability/disorder, or where there is professional concern about the individual: a physical/social/emotional/health/behavioural issue that is having a detrimental impact on their development and a formal disability diagnosis is being sought.
  • A commitment from the child/young person and/or parent/carer to look at activities that can be sustainable.
 

Dynamically Empowered
Overview: A time-limited informal advocacy service to support children/young people to have their voice heard on any decisions that affect them. The service will help children/young people to develop their sense of self-confidence and self-worth, to be able express their feelings and wishes anywhere they feel that their voice is not being heard or they are not being listened to.
Eligibility Criteria: Children/Young People:

  • Aged 8 – 25 years
  • Live in Wrexham County Borough.
  • Have a diagnosed disability/disorder, or where there is professional concern about the individual: a physical/social/emotional/health/behavioural issue that is having a detrimental impact on their development and a formal disability diagnosis is being sought.
 

Dynamically You – Nurture Groups
Overview: A group to build and improve confidence and strengthen resilience of children/young people over 10 weeks.

The group builds on the principles of nurture groups in education but provides a safe, neutral environment which is particularly important for those where education is a barrier to their development. The group is about changing mindsets, utilising their own skills and developing new ones to be able to overcome challenges and set and achieve aspirations.

It aims to improve relationships and communication for children/young people with their parents/carers, families and practitioners and professionals.
Eligibility Criteria: Children/Young People:

  • Aged 10 – 19 years
  • Live in Wrexham County Borough.
  • Have a diagnosed disability/disorder, or where there is professional concern about the individual: a physical/social/emotional/health/behavioural issue that is having a detrimental impact on their development and a formal disability diagnosis is being sought.
 

Dynamically You – PX2 Course (STEPS for Young People)
Overview: A course designed to build positive attitudes, habits and expectations, develop effective thinking skills and aspirations, equip young people with the knowledge to change their thinking and generate motivation, efficacy and optimism.
Eligibility Criteria: Children/Young People:

  • Aged 14 – 19 years
  • Live in Wrexham County Borough.
  • Have a diagnosed disability/disorder, or where there is professional concern about the individual: a physical/social/emotional/health/behavioural issue that is having a detrimental impact on their development and a formal disability diagnosis is being sought.
