Bradbury Activity Groups

What does a Dynamic Week Look Like?

Monday Activity Group (Rebels)

This activity group meets fortnightly  (3:00pm – 6:00pm) and it comprises of severely disabled young people who are all P.M.L.D. This means that they have multiple, complex disabilities and medical needs. This group is very heavily staff intensive because of the high level of need of the youngsters attending. The staff has many tasks to perform including changing and feeding. Some of the youngsters suffer from epilepsy and drug treatment has to be administered by trained staff.

Although the group have many health difficulties – this does not mean they do not know how to have fun! They love sensory based activities, music and the group is always filled with laughter 🙂

Monday Youth Group (The Crew)

This youth group meets fortnightly (3:00pm – 7:00pm) for young people aged 15 to 19 years of age who have are ready to take the next step with their independence. Developing self-confidence and self-esteem along with emotional resilience is a priority for this group to ensure they are ready for their life beyond Dynamic.


Tuesday Activity Groups (All Stars and Live Wires) 

These activity groups meet on alternate Tuesdays (3:00pm – 4:59pm*) with children between the ages of 8 to 12 attending. It is usually the first chance that the children to have to socialise outside of the home. They meet to have fun, play, socialise and develop friendships. Basic skills of turn-taking, sharing and joining in is encouraged. These groups are not childcare, they are opportunities for children to come together, be with their friends and take part in activities similar to uniformed groups e.g. Beavers, Scouts, Rainbows, Brownies *We are hoping to gain CIW registration so that we can offer additional hours during holiday periods.

Tuesday Activity Groups (Pioneer and The Navigators) 

These activity groups meet on alternate Tuesdays (5:30pm – 7:29pm*) with children between the ages of 8 to 12 attending. It is usually the first chance that the children to have to socialise outside of the home. They meet to have fun, play, socialise and develop friendships. Basic skills of turn-taking, sharing and joining in is encouraged. These groups are not childcare, they are opportunities for children to come together, be with their friends and take part in activities similar to uniformed groups e.g. Beavers, Scouts, Rainbows, Brownies *We are hoping to gain CIW registration so that we can offer additional hours during holiday periods.


Wednesday Activity Groups (Legends and Warriors)

These activity groups meets on alternate Wednesdays (3:00pm – 6:00pm) for young people. They are a lively group with many and varied interests. The time is spent on a variety of activities such as going out in the community, and developing independent life skills whilst having a lot of fun! Money handling, road safety and personal safety is started to be explored in this group.


Thursday Youth Groups (The Creatives and Mavericks)

These youth groups meets on alternate Thursday (3:00pm – 7:00pm) at Bradbury House for young people who are ready to start developing their independent skills further but still need additional support. Like Wednesday groups, they also take part in activities that will increase their skills and enable them to become more independent. Developing self-confidence and self-esteem along with emotional resilience is a priority for this group to ensure they are ready for their life beyond Dynamic.


Friday Youth Groups (The Tribe and The Squad)

These youth groups meets on alternate Fridays (3:00pm – 7:00pm) for young people who have are ready to take the next step with their independence. They are a lively group with many and varied interests. The time is spent on a variety of activities such as going out in the community, and developing independent life skills whilst having a lot of fun! Money handling, road safety and personal safety is started to be explored in this group.


Saturday Activity Groups (Trailblazers and The Amigos)

Trailblazers meets weekly on Saturdays for children between the ages of 8 to 10 years (9:30am – 11:29am*). It has the same remit as our Monday Rebels and all Tuesday Activity Groups. It is usually the first chance that the children to have to socialise outside of the home. They meet to have fun, play, socialise and develop friendships. Basic skills of turn-taking, sharing and joining in is encouraged.

The Amigos meets weekly on Saturdays for children between the ages of 8 to 12 years (12:00noon – 1:59pm*) but for those children and young people who need a little less support. It has the same remit as all Tuesday Activity Groups. It is usually the first chance that the children to have to socialise outside of the home. They meet to have fun, play, socialise and develop friendships. Basic skills of turn-taking, sharing and joining in is encouraged.

Both Trailblazers and The Amigos groups are not childcare, they are opportunities for children to come together, be with their friends and take part in activities similar to uniformed groups e.g. Beavers, Scouts, Rainbows, Brownies *We are hoping to gain CIW registration so that we can offer additional hours during holiday periods.
